Joseph M. Michuck, 77, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 661 Pontzer Ave., St. Marys, died early Wednesday morning, May 4, 2011, at Elk Haven following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 13, 1933 in Force, son of the late Joseph and Lucille Benevich Michuck.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Weedville High School. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Co., retiring with more than 35 years of service. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the PFL, the Moose, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Kay Smith and Peggy Michuck, both of St. Marys; three sons, Rick (Xuanno) Michuck, Steven (Yvonne) Michuck and Thomas Michuck, all of St. Marys; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Charles "Greg" (Sandy) Majchrzak of Ridgway.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michuck; a son-in-law, Steve "Smutt" Smith; a sister, Katherine Majchrzak; and a brother, James Majchrzak.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph M. Michuck will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt OSB, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
There will be no visitation.
