Ellen Mary (Prenger) Meier, 62, of Norcross, Ga. and Hidden Valley, died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at her home.
She was born July 27, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Ind., a daughter of the late Alvin and Ann (McCauliff) Prenger.
She graduated from Seton Hill College in 1970 with a B.A. degree in Mathematics. She worked for Bank of New York-Mellon as a Database Administrator. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Johns Creek, Ga., and attended St. Raymond of the Mountains Catholic Church, Donegal. She was a past member of the Pittsburgh Organization for Childbirth Education, and was co-author of the booklet “We’re All Having the Baby”. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and spending time with her family and friends. Recently she became an avid amateur photographer, capturing outdoor scenes of the Laurel Highlands and Colorado.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Daniel Meier; two sons, Brian Meier and his wife Bridget of Pittsburgh and Paul Meier of Chicago, Ill.; two granddaughters, Madeline and Alexandra Meier; and four sisters, Cathy Martinson and her husband Dean of Hudson, Wis., Regina Palosaari and her husband Neil of Minneapolis, Minn., Margaret Mary McDermott and her husband Daniel of Kenosha, Wis., and Ann Aschenbrenner and her husband David of Cedarburg, Wis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Prenger.
A Funeral Mass for Ellen Mary (Prenger) Meier will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Raymond of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church with Father Anthony W. Ditto as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Raymond of the Mountains Cemetery, Fayette County.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Bell & 402 E. Church Sts., Ligonier.
