Jerome A. "Tony" Frank, 88, of 118 Straub Ave., St. Marys, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born September 27, 1922 in St. Marys, son of the late Edward G. and Anna Thiel Frank.
On November 7, 1968 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Zora M. Lombardo, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1940. He was a former employee of Speer Carbon and was a 30-year postal employee and served as postmaster from 1962-1981.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre and the Normandy Invasion in the 23rd Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Bronze Star; a life member of the K of C, a life member of the the BPOE (Elks), the American Legion, CYMA and the St. Marys Country Club, where he was club champion eight times and had nine holes-in-one.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Gertrude Lynch, Edna Gerber, Agnes Vollmer, Eleanor Andrews and Ann Donahue; and by four brothers, Vincent, Rudolph, Edmund and Raymond Frank. He was the last member of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome A. "Tony" Frank will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 p.m.
