The Ridgway Heritage Council will present the sixth annual 'Tasting in the Wilds' festival this Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. at the Firemen's Grounds along Route 219 in Ridgway.
The festival offers a great opportunity for patrons to sample beverages from eight local wineries and an even larger selection of beers from breweries such as Otto's Pub and Brewery out of State College, Erie-based Erie Brewing Company, Straub Brewery of St. Marys and more.
With a tasting ticket, participants can sample beers by Troegs Brewing Company, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Samuel Adams and many others.
Ridgway Heritage Council committee member Julie Bomba said she expects the festival to bring in around 1,200 participants.
"It's a lot of work getting the festival ready, but it is a lot of fun, too," Bomba said. "Everybody comes down and has a great time. It's nice because people that were originally from Ridgway come back for this festival. A lot of people will be coming home for their class reunion and they will tie it in with the festival, so that it really adds to a great weekend in Ridgway. We try to make sure the whole town benefits from the festival."
The money raised from the event will go back to the town and into revitalization projects for the community.
