Ridgway cross country hosted Brockway, St. Marys and Kane in action Tuesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
In the varsity girls' race, Adair Gennocro of St. Marys was the top finisher with a time of 19:07. Sloan Foster was third with a time of 22:03. Alexis Hanes had a time of 25:00 and Casey Kline had a mark of 27:29. Rachel Schreiber finished at 29:00, Cassie Wonderling had a time of 30:42 and Ashley Mertz had a time of 34:15.
For Kane, Christine Boyer was the top finisher and fourth in the girls' race with a time of 22:14.
Ridgway senior Max Palmer finished with a time of 22:42 for 24th in the varsity boys' race. Gideon Woelfel was the winner of the boys' race with a time of 18:01. Alec Foster was second for the Dutch at 18:13. Dylan Shields placed fifth at 18:51. Austin Frey was eighth at 19:15. Nathan McFadden had a time of 19:55 and Mitchel Ovell finished at 21:04.
Nicolas Bush clocked in with a 21:32. Jordan Agosti finished at 23:22 for the Dutch.
For Kane, Avery Colson was third at 18:30 and teammate Chris Hunt was right behind at 18:31. Jon Gelsick placed sixth overall at 18:51.
Bailey Colson was ninth in the boys' race at 19:35, teammate Dan Blackmore was next at 19:49. Jack Ball finished at 20:52 and Andrew Swartwood finished at 22:01. Joel Strandburg finished at 23:04. Justin Hunt had a time of 29:52.
"We're really hurting with injuries," Ridgway coach Marlin Konen said. "Our numbers are low, we're hurting with injuries. The junior high kids ran very well."
Konen said the field conditions were not bad and teams are saving up for districts.
"It wasn't bad overall. There were a couple wet spots but overall it wasn't in that bad a shape," Konen said. "Some of the teams didn't run close to what they usually run with trying to take it easy and stay healthy."
The Dutch finished their regular season with a 13-2 record while the Lady Dutch finished their regular season at 12-2.
"The varsity teams are looking ahead to the District meet on Oct. 29," said St. Marys coach Stan Foster.
Teams now are beginning to prepare for the District 9 Cross Country Championships which will be at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway on Oct. 29.
Jr. high results
St. Marys Area's Angelo Geitner won the junior high race with a time of 10:43. Ridgway's Aaron Shilk was second in 10:49. Adam Sabatose of Brockway was third in 10:52 with Zeph Woelfel of St. Marys rounding out the top five in 11:01.
St. Marys took the next three spots with Damien Krise finishing in 11:32, Mitchell Schreiber 11:37 and Ryan Brennen 11:38. SMA's Garrett Struble finished ninth in 11:52 with Luke Guyer of Ridgway taking 10th in 11:57.
Ridgway's Brandon Kinkead was next in 12:04 followed by Cameron Resch in 12:39.
Also for St. Marys Zach Pollino finished with in 12:54, Jordan Adams in 14:01 and Justin Beck in 15:55.
Shelby Schreiber of St. Marys won the girls' race in 12:08. Brooke Lenox of St. Marys was second in 12:09 followed by SMA's Allie Wonderling in 12:51 and Brockway's Alyssa Buesnik and Morgan Marchiori in 12:52 and 12:53, respectively.
Also for St. Marys, Dorian Tamburlin finished in 13:13, Rachael Caretti in 13:53.
"This was the junior high's last meet of the season. I was very proud of the boys' and girls' teams this year. They were the best performing tams that I have coached in cross country," said St. Marys junior high coach David Fordoski.
"The boys finished the season with a 12-1 record and finished second at the Ridgway Invitational. The girls had their best season ever with a 11-2 record and third at the Ridgway Invitational. It was my pleasure to coach these kids," added Fordoski.
