Virginia L. Fodge, 74, of Fincastle, Va., previously of St. Marys, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 15, 1936 in Bethlehem to Edward and Hyla Snyder.
She resided in St. Marys most of her life, working for Stackpole Carbon and Powdered Metal Products. She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian of Escondido, Calif., Fincastle Presbyterian Church most recently, and the Presbyterian Women’s Organization. She was also an active member of the Brae and Beck Garden Club of Fincastle, Va.
She was a rock of stability to her family through many hard times. They loved her dearly and she will be missed tremendously.
She is survived by a sister, Alice Jean Stiles of Roulette; three brothers, John Snyder of DuBois, Michael Euken of Buffalo, N.Y., and Kevin Euken of Coudersport; two sons, David and his wife Diane Meredith and their children Jesse, Hyla, Shaelee and Angel of Fincastle, Va., Robert and his wife Lorraine Meredith and their children Mark, Isaac, Kelsey and Luke of Golden Valley, MN; three daughters, Sally and her husband Gene Cobb of Roulette and their daughters Melissa Hancock, Hila Cooper and Gabrielle Snyder, Patricia and her husband Rick Eaton of Smethport and her son Adam Struble, and Wendy Meredith and Rhett Myers of Gettysburg and her son Matthew Meredith; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Meredith and James Fodge; a daughter, Ann Fodge; two brothers, Edward Snyder and Mark Euken, and a sister, Letitia Snyder.
A memorial service for Virginia L. Fodge will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at Fincastle Presbyterian Church, 108 Back St., Fincastle, Va., with Dr. Iain MacLean presiding.
