Eleanor M. Ingram, 87, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Penfield, died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 at her residence following a short illness.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1924 in Benezette, daughter of the late Michael and Minnie (Dill) Gallagher.
She married Clark R. Ingram on July 29, 1945. He died on May 22, 2011.
Mrs. Ingram was a graduate of Benezette/Weedville high schools and lived all her life in Bennetts Valley. She worked at the Benezette Post Office in her youth, Stackpole Carbon during WWII, the Caledonia General Store with her husband and continued to do extensive bookkeeping for the local Ingram family businesses all through the years.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Weedville United Methodist Church, and enjoyed attending several local churches. She also enjoyed dancing, gardening, her pets, having a yearly yard sale and especially helping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three sons, George "Mike" Ingram and his wife Pamela of Weedville, Gary C. Ingram and his wife Nancy of Treasure Lake, and Gregory B. Ingram and his fiancee, Christine Szymoniak of Penfield; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last member of her immediate family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by six brothers, Leonard, Harry, Clair, Warren, Merle and Gerald; and one sister, Margaret Crocco.
A funeral service for Eleanor M. Ingram will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield, with Pastor Timothy Rogers officiating. Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to DuBois Regional Medical Center Hospice.
