M. Jean Asti, 73, of 249 N. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at her residence after a courageous battle with emphysema.
She was born April 21, 1938 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Leander and Alice Sorg Haberberger. On September 6, 1958 in the St. Marys Church, she married the late Anthony J. "Junior" Asti, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1994.
Mrs. Asti was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1956. She and her husband owned and operated Asti's Bar, formerly George's Place, in Johnsonburg for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a past member of the Elk County Council on the Arts. She greatly enjoyed painting, bird watching and playing BIngo. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and also enjoyed her elephant collection.
She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Asti-Fritz and her husband Brian Fritz of St. Marys; three sons, Anthony Asti and his wife Pam of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Asti and his wife Lisa of Plum Boro and Scott Asti. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jamie, Mrs. James Macy; A.J., Mike, Danielle and Jonathan Asti and Justin and Jacob Fritz as well as two sisters, Grace Gleixner of Brookville and Mary Amacher of Lancaster along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Walter and William Haberberger and a grandson Jason Asti in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for M. Jean Asti will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 Center St., St. Marys, on Tuesday at noon with Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB as celebrant.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Monday from 6-9 p.m. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
