During the recent Fox Township Supervisors meeting, supervisors said the township was recently made aware through a letter that Veolia Environment in France, owner of the Greentree Landfill, will be ceasing operations of its solid waste business in North America.
Veolia's board of directors approved the decision and the company will be actively moving forward with finding an appropriate buyer for Veolia ES Solid Waste, Inc.
According to a letter from Veolia, "These divestiture plans are in support of Veolia Environment's existing program to pay down debt and increase cash flow, which has been in place since 2009 and was expanded earlier this year. Our Solid Waste business is profitable and highly marketable, and its sale will make a significant contribution to the financial well-being of Veolia globally."
"As the company seeks a buyer, I want to assure you that it's business as usual," said Don Heinrichs, landfill manager. "This will not impact your business or our ability to service you. Our drivers, sales teams, customer service representatives and managers will continue to provide a quality service and we will deliver on our promise of 'Service First, Safety Always.' We will honor our contracts, partnerships, and conduct business responsibly throughout the process."
