At the conclusion of Monday's St. Marys City Council meeting, several outgoing council members were presented with plaques recognizing their service.
Council members Richard Gabler Jr., Steven Skok, and Dennis Nero, who also served as deputy mayor, were presented with plaques. Gabler served on council for four years and Nero and Skok served for eight years. The three men said they appreciated their time on council and the opportunity to serve their community.
City Solicitor Mark S. Jacob will relinquish that role to become the new Magisterial District Justice for District 59-3-09 at the end of the month.
"It's been a real pleasure working with all of you and serving the city and I hope to continue to serve all the district in my new job," Jacob said.
A plaque was also provided for city employee Mike Mullaney, who will retire at the end of this year as public works director, assistant city manager and administrative assistant. Mullaney was not able to be present at Monday's meeting.
"We wish Mike Mullaney a lot of years in retirement," Geyer said.
Additionally, Norbert A. Arnold was presented a plaque for his longtime service on the city's Parking Authority and as one of the authority's founders. Arnold, better known to area residents as "Norb," said he has not missed a meeting of the authority since it was established until council voted to dissolve it over the summer due to an expiring statute.
