Larry D. Knisely, 64, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Penfield, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at DRMC after a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 3, 1947 in Renovo, son of the late Elmer Belden and Bernice Knisely.
On June 5, 1970, he married Diana (Caliari) Knisely, who survives.
He served in the Army from 1966 to 1968, receiving the National Defense and Good Conduct Medals. He also worked for five years as Foreman and hyster driver for Metal Wire of Driftwood; three years with Brockway Clay; and 29 years with Carbide Graphite of St. Marys; Falcon Transport, CJ Packing and Catalone Pipe Supply.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, where he also served as Altar Server; a member of the Bennetts Valley Rod and Gun Club, the Weedville American Legion, served with the Bennetts Valley Ambulance, Huston Twp. Water and Sewer Authorities and served as Huston Twp. Supervisor. He enjoyed tying flies, loading shells, hunting, fishing and especially time with his family.
He was raised in Driftwood where he lived until coming to Penfield in 1970.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, John (Rose) Petrini of Weedville and Donald (Terri) Petrini of Penfield; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Lily) Belden of Driftwood; and four sisters, Charlene (Bob) Boyer of Texas, Arlene (Tim) Petrazio of Emporium, Florence (Nick) Palumbo of Weedville, and Lucy (Sam) Chilcote of Driftwood.
A Mass of Resurrection for Larry D. Knisely will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 at the St. Joseph Cathlic Church of Force with Father Thomas Tyler as celebrant. Military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Force.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The family suggests memorials to Hahne Cancer Center, St. Joseph Church, Penfield Firemen or Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
