Emma Irene Wallace, 99, of Mill Run Road, Penfield, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012.
She was born Dec. 29, 1912 in Akron, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank Boughner and Laura (Pressler) Plyler. She married Dorsey S. Wallace, who preceded her in death in 1970.
Mrs. Wallace lived in Ohio until coming to the area in 1937, remaining the rest of her life in Mill Run.
She was a homemaker. She also worked five years with Stackpole Carbon. She was Methodist by faith and a member of the Gold Star Wives of America. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles and her life was devoted to her family.
She is survived by five children, Thomas (Martha) Wallace of Great Falls, Mont., Gerald Wallace of Treasure Lake, John (Lorraine) Wallace of Penfield, Dale (Ada Jane) Wallace of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Patricia (Gerald) Agosti of Kersey; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Wallace of Flemington, N.J.; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, James Wallace; a brother, Richard Baughner; and two sisters, Cora Marguerite Barton and Elizabeth Strum. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services for Emma Irene Wallace will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, with the Reverend Robert Newell officiating. Interment will take place in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 from 10–11 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to DRMC Hospice.
