Ruth E. DeSalve, 95, of DeSalve Road, Penfield, died at home late Thursday, March 8, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 7, 1917 in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Ramback) Aures. On July 1, 1936, she married William DeSalve, who preceded her in death March 9, 2008.
She is survived by three children, Joyce (Francis E.) Klaiber and Judy (Jerry) Smart, both of Penfield, and by Terry DeSalve of DuBois; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She lived most of her life in Bennetts Valley. She was a housewife and also enjoyed working with Penn Traffic Grocery Store of DuBois in the Bakery, Keystone Carbon of St. Marys and DeSalve’s Truckstop of Penfield. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, the Penfield Grange and loved animals.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Betta and Evelyn Parziale.
Funeral services for Ruth E. DeSalve will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, with Father Richard Siefer officiating. Interment will take place at Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday, March 12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
