Curves on Friday was the setting for an all day-fundraising event in its second year as a Relay for Life participant. Owner Peggy Yeager bought the business just two years ago.
"I personally have lost family members and loved ones, I think we all have. I think cancer is a disease that touches each and every one of us," Yeager said.
Friday's fundraiser included a lunch that served 119 lunches to the public, raising over $647 through the lunch alone. As of last count, Yeager said over $2,800 had been raised through Friday's events, which included an auction and luminary service led by Paula Fritz Eddy which included a reading of names of local cancer survivors and victims. The luminaries were marked with the names in honor or in memory of friends and relatives and lit by candles in tribute.
