Flying Dove Ranch, located along Old Red Mill Dam Road just outside of Ridgway, will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 26 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be food, refreshments, games, horse and buggy rides, face painting, clowns, balloon animals and more. The ranch is conveniently located 8.5 miles north of Ridgway off of Montmorenci Road and encases visitors within its 82 acres of outdoor tranquility.
Flying Dove Ranch is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization available to host children and youth camps, and also be used for retreats, conferences, business meetings, family outings or reunions, weddings and more.
It was established by Charlie Steger of Ridgway to support the area's youth.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Steger said. “I wanted to create a place that brought families and kids together; a place where kids are kids and Jesus is Lord.”
The grand opening this Sunday will showcase the completion of phase one at Flying Dove Ranch.
“Where we are now is the end of the first phase of development,” Steger said. “We are in the process of erecting cabins which will be open by the end of October. We also plan to have bunkhouses, a banquet hall and many more additions.”
