Mary Ann Maiers, 79, of Willow Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 26, 1933 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Willliam and Elva (Ford) McCandless.
On July 4, 1953, she married William T. “Bill” Maiers of Johnsonburg, who survives.
She lived all of her life in Johnsonburg. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the PA Trappers Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and her pet dogs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William E. (Ann) Maiers of Johnsonburg; two half-brothers, Gilford “Gee” and Wesley Rowley; two half-sisters, Vicki Bliss and Burdetta Miller;
two grandchildren, Julie (Ben) Bickford and Jessica Maiers; and two great-grandchildren, Zaviera and Zekiel Bickford.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia, in infancy; three half-sisters, Katherine Conen, Ruth Camp and Dorothy Heeter; and two half-brothers, William and James McCandless.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann Maiers will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Johnsonburg, with Father David Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home in Johnsonburg. Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
