Casimir “Charlie” Carpin, 84, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Weedville, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at DRMC after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 4, 1928 in Weedville, son of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Manuello “Minnie” (Dilullo) Carpin.
On Nov. 25, 1950 he married Aileen M. Cameroni, who survives.
He lived all his life in Bennetts Valley and was a graduate of Bennetts Valley schools and the DuBois Business College. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was employed as a drafter and designer of homes and a building material salesman with Corbet Cabinet & Burke Bros. of St. Marys.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, where he was very active as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Pastoral Council, and a building committee and acolyte. He was also active in many local board of director committees, including St. Joseph Terrace, Bennetts Valley Senior Center, Bennetts Valley Ambulance, Bennetts Valley Labor Day, Force Clinic, Bennetts Valley Water and Sewage, and the diabetic board of DRMC. He was a member of the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 and served as member of the burial detail. He was also a member of the Bennetts Valley Lion Club, where he served as president several times, among other offices.
In addition to his wife, Aileen M. (Cameroni) Carpin of Weedville, he is survived by three children, Roseann (Duane) Liptak of Weedville, Charlene (David) Liptak of Weedville, and Tracey (John) Phillips of Weedville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Pasquale, Thomas, Samuel, Ralph, Dr. Germanus Carpin and two brothers in infancy, Joseph and Frank; and two sisters, Angeline Cherico and Speranza Crocco. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Casimir “Charlie” Carpin will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force with Father Thomas Tyler as celebrant.
Military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Force.
Visitation will be at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Friday, March 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
