Daniel L. “Big Dan” Niedzwecki, 61, of Wattsburg, died peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 9, 1951 in St. Marys, son of the late Anthony and Shirley Wagner Niedzwecki.
He had resided in the Erie area for most of his life, having moved there from Ridgway at age 12. He was a 1969 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He had been employed by the Lord Corp. for 40 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers, Local #216. He enjoyed bowling and vending at the Wattsburg and Waterford fairs, as well as flea markets. His biggest enjoyment was dining out.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Donna Weyand Niedzwecki; two daughters, Zoe Niedzwecki (partner, Mitchell Brozell) and Jill Niedzwecki (partner, Nathanial Shephard) all of Erie; one sister, Diane Ropey (Brad) of Waterford; one brother, Paul Niedzwecki (Doreen) of McKean; three grandchildren, Madison and Emma Brozell and Isaac Niedzwecki; his mother-in-law, Marion Weyand of Erie; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles Weyand.
A funeral service for Daniel L. “Big Dan” Niedzwecki will be held today, Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Rd., Erie.
Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
