The Elk County Catholic Crusaders were eliminated from the District 9 Class A tournament by the Coudersport Falcons 2-0 in a quarterfinal contest Wednesday evening at Angela Huey Memorial Field in Kersey. The Crusaders finished the season 12-5-1.
Most of the first half was a defensive battle and both keepers were kept busy.
Elk Catholic sophomore Mitchell Gahr started the game at keeper in place of Mitchel Haberberger and did a good job of keeping the ball out of the net until almost the end of the first half, when Coudersport's Tyler Schroeder put the ball past Gahr to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead with 3:36 remaining.
Haberberger took over as keeper to start the second half and made some nice saves early on, but Coudersport's Chris Rigas was able to put the ball by him with 25:35 remaining in the game to put the Falcons up 2-0.
