Ethel Prout, 92, died on June 26, 2013 at her brother-in-law Jack’s home outside Buffalo, N.Y.
She was born in Jamestown, N.Y. on March 18, 1921, daughter of the late Harry and Leora Stewart.
When she was a young girl, her family moved to Buffalo, N.Y. She met her husband-to-be, Dick, in church. They married while he was in pilot training during WWII. After the war they continued to live in Buffalo until job opportunities took the family to Lima, Ohio and then to St. Marys. They lived in St. Marys for nearly 40 years.
She was a faithful member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys for many years. She will be well remembered and greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Prout (Jean) and Lee Prout (Linda); three grandchildren, Brian Prout, Lisa Prout Williams (Kyle), and Jennifer Prout; and a sister, Ruth Hedden (Wayne).
In addition to her parents and husband of 69 years, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Prout; and a brother, Robert Stewart (Caroline).
A memorial service for Ethel Prout will be held at The Church of Clarence at 4550 Gunnville Rd, in Clarence, N.Y. on July 13 at 10 a.m.
