Emanuel Joseph “Coonie” Pretti, 77, of Shady Lane, Penfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 5, 1935 in Force, son of the late Tullio and Flora (Fedrizzi) Pretti.
On May 16, 1959, he married Janet (Bruni), and she survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Bennetts Valley and graduated from Huston Township High School.
He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1957-1963.
He worked with Stackpole Carbon, B&O Railroad, Pace Tool & Die and retired from PennDOT as Highway Foreman.
A former volunteer with the Penfield Fire Company, he enjoyed his time at his camps through the years and especially enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife, Janet (Bruni) Pretti of Penfield, he is survived by three children, Gina (Mark) Torkos of St. Augustine, Fla., Lisa LaBue of DuBois, and Luann (Bryan) Chiappelli of Weedville; five grandchildren, Evan and Ross Torkos, Brock LaBue, and Mario and Maria Chiappelli; and a brother, Edward (Joyce) Pretti of Johnstown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gianna Chiappelli.
Funeral Services for Emanuel Joseph “Coonie” Pretti will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Thomas Tyler officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Force.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Friday, Aug. 23, from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the St. Joseph Church, DRMC Hospice, or the Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
