Rose Mary Dixon, 79, of 592 S. St. Marys St., St. Marys, died Friday evening, Oct. 29, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Janey Farish of York, following a brief illness.
She was born June 20, 1931, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Patrick and Genevieve Hanes Fleming.
On Oct. 9, 1954, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Robert T. Dixon, who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2009.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1949, and a graduate of St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Erie, Class of 1952. She was a retired supervisor for Tri-County Home Health. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, former member of the St. Marys Nurses Study Club, and she especially enjoyed her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Piotrowski and her husband, Tim, of Busti, NY, and Janey Farish and her husband, David, of York; four sons, Robert P. Dixon and his wife, Jean, of St. Marys, Patrick A. Dixon and his wife, Michelle, of Williamsport, Mark A. Dixon and his wife, Denise, of Lewisberry and Michael T. Dixon and his wife, Kim, of Rome, Ga; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald W. Fleming of St. Marys.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Fleming, Patrick Fleming and Richard Fleming.
A Mass of Christian Burial for the Rose Mary Dixon will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, Center Street, on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
