Gordon William Stewart, 68, of Chapel Hill, N.C., beloved husband of Elaine (Godzyk) Stewart, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, 2013, at home.
Born in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late Daniel (Neil) and Evelyn (Campbell) Stewart. Gordon was raised and educated in Lynn, and is an Army veteran.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 35 years as a Production Foreman at Sylvania Lighting, first with GTE on Loring Avenue in Salem, Mass., then with Osram in St. Marys.
In addition to his loving wife of 32 years, Gordon is survived by his sons, Michael and his wife Christy, Steve and his wife Donna, Karl and his wife Amie, Brian and his wife Mary; his grandsons, of whom he was very proud, Daniel, Karl (KJ), Hunter, Bryce, Patrick, and Walker; his brother Bruce and his wife Andra of Chatanooga, Tenn.; his sister-in-law, Janet Griffin of Salem; his brother-in-law, Paul Brown of Danvers; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was also the brother of the late Hugh Griffin and Meredith (Stewart) Brown.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Sept. 28, at the Event Center, 200 S.Elliot Rd., Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514, beginning promptly at 5 p.m.
