Brookville Raiders rally to defeat Flying Dutchmen 19-15

BROOKVILLE - The Brookville Raiders were able to score 12 points in the final 7:41 of last night’s KSAC Big School Division game to come from behind to beat the St. Marys Area Flying Dutch by a 19-15 score.The Dutchmen were able to take a 15-7 lead at halftime but were unable to stop the Raiders in the fourth quarter of play.“This was a very disappointing loss,” said St. Marys coach Joe Schlimm. “Penalties really hurt us tonight and we squandered some opportunities, especially in the first half.” The Dutch were flagged seven time for 75 yards, with four of them being holding penalties in key situations.“We have to look to get better,” added Schlimm.The Dutch offense outgained the Raiders 284 net yards to 142 net yards.St. Marys was led by Alex Feldbauer with 153 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns. Cody Baker finished with 82 yards on eight carries and Joe Luchini picked up 43 yards on 13 carries. Quarterback Alex Coudriet was three of 10, with one interception for 13 yards.Recovering Brookville fumbles for the Dutch were Robbie Glass and Christian Keller.Cam Yard led the Raiders with 70 gross yards on 13 carries. He also completed five of 10 passes for 99 yards. Zach Vroman gained 34 yards on 11 carries.The Dutch won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. Brookville fumbled the opening kickoff, with Alex Feldbauer recovering on the Brookville 19. St. Marys could only get to the 13 before running out of downs. Brookville punted on their next possession, with St. Marys taking over on the Brookville 38.Coudriet picked up two yards on first down, with Luchini being held for no gain. Luchini picked up nine yards on third down to the Brookville 20. Feldbauer picked up seven yards on first down and four on second down to the 16. Feldbauer gained three to the 13, with Luchini getting three more to the 10. Feldbauer picked up four on third down. On first and goal, Feldbauer gained three to three. On second and goal, Feldbauer scored from three yards out. Christian Keller added the PAT as the Dutch led 7-0 with 2:49 left in the first period.Brookville could only get to their own 29 before facing a fourth and two. The snap to the punter went over his head and he recovered it in the endzone for a safety for the Dutch, making the score 9-0 in favor of St. Marys with 50 seconds left in the quarter.St. Marys punted on their next possession with Brookville turning the ball over via a fumble at the Dutchmen’s 43 on a fourth-down punt.The Dutch punted on their next possession. It took the Raiders seven plays to cover 76 yards as Yard hit Kiefer Gilhousen with a 40-yard touchdown pass. The Raiders were also helped out with a running-into-the-punter penalty during the drive. The PAT was blocked and the score stood at 15-7 at the half.The Dutch got as far as the Brookville 30 on their first possession, then fumbled the ball away. The teams then traded punts. Brookville started on the 50 and got as far as the Dutch four-yard line before Christian Keller recovered a Raider fumble on the seven. St. Marys moved from their own seven to their own 45 before being forced to punt on the third play of the fourth quarter. Brookville started on their own 20 as the punt went into the endzone for a touchback. Yard picked up 30 yards on first down.
