Carol A. Dornish

Carol A. Dornish, 75, of 72 Erie Ave., St. Marys, and formerly of Poplar Road, died Monday morning, Nov. 5, 2012, at her residence after a brief illness.She was born Oct. 16, 1937 in St. Marys, daughter of the late George C. and Avis L. Peckham Goodreau. On Feb. 7, 1959 in the Queen of the World Church, she married Charles T. Dornish, who preceded her in death in 1989.She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. She was a former employee of Stackpole, with 24 years of service and had also worked at Flannigan’s, the Elk Casino and the Elks Club.Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, traveling and spending time with her family. She was able to travel with her friend, Ray, to all 50 states.She is survived by five daughters, Karen (Bob) Rogan of St. Marys, Tammy (Randy) Houttekier of Johnsonburg, Paula (Kenneth) Meyer of St. Marys, Melissa Dornish and her fiancée Tony Rossman of St. Marys, and Rebecca (Jason) Gabler of St. Marys; three sons, Michael (Kary) Dornish of Nebraska, Joseph (Teresa) Dornish of South Carolina and James (Mary Pat) Dornish of St. Marys; 20 grandchildren, Timothy Gerber, Angela Shaffer, Jamie Mawn, James Jordan, Willis Jordan, Lisa Jordan, Crystana Stevens, Charles Thomas Dornish, Luke Dornish, Amber Kestler, Odyssey Merritt, Brittany Dornish, Tiffany Dornish, Joshua Dornish, Kyndra Szymanski, Anthony Dornish, Keshia Dornish, Brendan Dornish, Brooke Gabler and Jaydon Gabler; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Hanes of St. Marys and Geraldine “Bear” Witherson of St. Marys; one brother, Steven G. (JoAnn) Goodreau; a sister-in-law, Nancy Goodreau of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, William Brunner of Ridgway; and her special friend, Raymond Breckenridge of St. Marys.Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles T. Dornish, who died at birth; two sisters, Lois Brunner and Rita Blackburn; and one brother, John C. Goodreau.Funeral services for Carol A. Dornish will be held at the United Methodist Church on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at noon, with the Rev. Chris Kindle, pastor, officiating.
