Dutch host Gremlins, Crusaders travel to Ridgway Friday

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch and the Elk County Catholic Crusader football teams will return to action Friday night.Karns City at St. MarysThe Dutchmen of coach Joe Schlimm will close out their season Friday by playing host to the Karns City Gremlins in a KSAC Large School Division contest. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.The Dutch seniors and their parents will be recognized in pre-game ceremonies slated to begin at 6:15 p.m.St. Marys will bring a 5-3 record into tomorrow night’s contest.The Dutch have recorded wins over Clarion-Limestone 55-12, Clarion 14-7, Moniteau 46-15, Redbank Valley 28-14 and Union 55-12.St. Marys has lost to Brookville 15-14, Punxsutawney 28-7 and DuBois 40-20.The Gremlins will bring a 3-5 record into the contest.Karns City has picked up wins over Moniteau 28-26, Keystone 40-20 and Clarion-Limestone 59-20.The Gremlins have lost to Redbank Valley 28-14, Wilmington 50-7, Punxsutawney 31-0, Hickory 28-14 and Brookville 25-15.ECCHS at RidgwayThe Crusaders of coach Travis Skrzypek will close out their regular season Friday by traveling to Ridgway to take on the Elkers in an AML South Division contest. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Memorial Field.Elk Catholic brings a 6-2 record into the contest. The Crusaders have defeated Cameron County 34-12, Otto-Eldred 56-16, Coudersport 26-21, Port Allegany 27-20, Johnsonburg 34-8 and Kane 27-13.The Crusaders have lost their last two games. They lost to Brockway 35-14 and Curwensville 28-6.Ridgway enters the game winless. They have lost to Port Allegany 55-14, Smethport 43-0, Sheffield 26-0, Cameron County 56-7, Brockway 71-6, Johnsonburg 41-0, Curwensville 61-14 and Kane 33-0.The Crusaders are slated to open District 9 Class A playoffs the week of Nov. 12-13 at a site and time to be announced. Their opponent will be determined.
