An inter-municipal liquor license transfer for the Nittany Minit Mart on Washington Street was unanimously approved by St. Marys City Council during their Monday meeting
The license was obtained through the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) auction process. The license was previously granted for a business in Johnsonburg.
By adding 30 seats to the facility, the Minit Mart qualifies for a restaurant license. The expansion is part of a store remodel anticipated to take place next year, according to Corey Miller of Nittany Minit Mart. Part of the remodel is a 1,191-square-foot addition featuring a walk-in cooler where all alcohol will be stored.
No alcohol will be displayed on store shelves. The store plans to see 150 types of beer including national brands and craft offerings.
Alcohol sales will be limited from 7-1:45 a.m. Monday through Saturday and beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
