Little Texas set to rock St. Marys

Just over 300 tickets are left for the upcoming Little Texas concert taking place Saturday, March 5 at the St. Marys Area High School auditorium. "We started out with 1,334 tickets, which went on sale shortly before Christmas and are down to the last couple of hundred," said Sandy Buerk, co-owner of St. Marys Auto Body, which is sponsoring the concert. According to Buerk, patrons purchased tickets from as far away as Cincinnati, Ohio, Wilkes-Barre and several from the Pittsburgh area. She noted that all seats are reserved and the $13 tickets are only being sold at St. Marys Auto Body on Trout Run Road in St. Marys. "This is something we wanted to do to give back to the town," Buerk said. "We decided to spend several thousands of our own money to allow everyone to attend, as some people are still unemployed or are on a fixed income."She also noted that the concert would help stimulate the local economy. "We hope to fill hotels, motels, and that people go out to eat and to see the elk," Buerk said.Known as "the hardest-working band in country music", the group's St. Marys show is among their more than 300 shows they perform each year. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., with the doors opening at 6 p.m. St. Marys-based band Six Pak is slated to be the opening act for the concert.Following the show, concertgoers will have the opportunity to attend a meet-and-greet event, where they may obtain autographs.According to Buerk, on Feb. 12 WJAC-TV is sending out a mass e-mail promoting the show; however, she wanted to give local residents the opportunity to purchase any remaining tickets first.
