Louis Anthony “Lulu” Cherry

Louis Anthony “Lulu” Cherry, 76, of High Street, Johnsonburg, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center after a short illness.He was born January 21, 1935 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Tony and Emily (Papa) Cherry. He married Nancy (Grunthaner) Cherry, who survives.He lived all of his life in Johnsonburg and was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1954. He worked for Johnsonburg Borough for 40 years, retiring in 2009 as Street Supervisor. He was a member of Central Hose Company. In addition to his wife of 21 years, he is survived by five children, Dino Cherry of Kane, Albert Cherry of Kersey, Nicklous Cherry of Johnsonburg, Donna Waigand of Kane, and Cindy Lupino of Ridgway; five stepchildren, David Wolff, Robin Wolff, Kathy Hefright, Lori Smith, and Joseph Wolff, all of Johnsonburg; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, John “Chisel” Cherry, Thomas Cherry, and Joseph “Butch” Cherry, all of Johnsonburg; and three sisters, Janice Esposito of Brockway, Annie Polaski of Johnsonburg, and Elaine Myers of Johnsonburg.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph “Jojo” Cherry; a sister in infancy; two sons, Ricky and Robert “Bobby” Cherry; and a grandson, Ricky A. Cherry.Funeral services for Louis Anthony “Lulu” Cherry will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the Ubel Funeral Home in Johnsonburg. Interment will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Johnsonburg.  Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the Johnsonburg Library or a favorite charity.
