Ronald C. Ecklund

Ronald C. Ecklund, 73, of 668 Washington Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 3, 1939 in Ridgway, son of the late Charles M. and Martha L. (Fischer) Ecklund. On Nov. 11, 1983, he married Ann Werner Ecklund, who survives. Ron had resided in St. Marys for the last 29 years and was a former Ridgway and Portland Mills resident. He was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ in Ridgway, a past president of Local 502, a member of the Ridgway Eagles Club, where he was district chairman, and a member of the Topi Hanna Muzzleloaders Club. He was a graduate of Ridgway High School and had been employed by Motion Control Industries for 36 years. In addition to his wife, Anne Werner Ecklund of St. Marys, he is survived by the mother of his children, Jean Sherry Ecklund of Lake City; his children, Pamela Davidson (Robert) of Kane, Greg Ecklund (Aloha) of Eighty Four, Christine Prechtl (Mark) of Ridgway, Susan Parson (Jay) of Ridgway, Sharon Hamilton (Brian) of Ridgway, Amy Piccirillo (Anthony) of Ridgway, and Mark Ecklund (Pam) of Kersey; three stepchildren, Scott Bauer of St. Marys, Kirk Bauer of St. Marys, and Andrea Brady (Jeremy) of North Carolina; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Speaker (Bud) of Ridgway, Patricia Corbett of Ridgway, and Judy Wolff of Ridgway; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Ecklund; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Corbett and Tom Wolff. A memorial service for Ronald C. Ecklund will be held at Faith United Church of Christ on Saturday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. J. Stephen Fair, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc., or to the Faith United Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
