ST. MARYS - It’s “The Last Mission” for the St. Marys Area High School indoor color guard as this year’s show marks the final season for Ann Defilippi, color guard advisor for the past 20 years.
“This group of girls has worked very hard to overcome all of the challenges to perform this show,” Defilippi said. “I am very proud of what they’ve been able to do and work through.”
The theme and concept for this year’s show began in November. Due to the group being unable to fundraise this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, they reverted to reusing as many items as possible including last year’s indoor drumline’s floor which is painted with a galaxy design. From there indoor guard staff searched for music to work with the show and decided on a cover of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” sung by Sam Tsui.
The 13-member group consists of seniors Chloe Bierley, Gianna Genevro, Chelsea Hetrick and Kiley Williams, juniors Megan Kleppinger and Rachel Snyder, sophomores Julia Meyer, Abby Pociask and Destiny Rhoads, freshmen Kendall Bowers and Abby Gerg and eighth graders Amelia Ginther and Terra Hnath.
